Lottery perpetuates impossible dream
Bravo to the Daily Herald for its March 31 headline pointing out what Mega Millions could more realistically do on the marketplace instead of creating an impossible dream to millions of want-to-be millionaires.
It was a vacation in Cuba in the early 1950s era that gave me negative feelings about a national lottery bettering the lives of people. Cuba had such a lottery in place for eons and their lottery did not seem to better the lives of the masses there by eliminating the deep divide between the haves and have nots.
Still etched in my mind are the poorly dressed Cuban urchins who would try to sell those lottery tickets on street corners just to make a few pesos for a long day’s work.
