Still no ID on Warrenville crash victim
It could be days before the DuPage County coroner’s office is able to positively identify a driver killed in a fiery crash Sunday in Warrenville.
Authorities were working to identify the victim — who was badly burned and is believed to be female — through dental records, which could take several days, a coroner’s official said Monday.
Police arrived at the crash scene on Diehl Road west of Winfield Road shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday to find the victim’s car fully engulfed in flames. Police said the vehicle appeared to have left the roadway and struck an aboveground gas line.
Authorities said they confirmed there was just one person in the vehicle.
