Vernon Hills, Pat Crowley beat Rantoul

Vernon Hills’ baseball team had few arms available for the final game of its Spring Break trip downstate.

Enter Pat Crowley.

The Cougars needed the sophomore left-hander to go deep in the game, and he responded by going the distance on the mound, as the Cougars shut down host Rantoul 6-1 Friday.

Crowley allowed only a first-inning run, scattered 7 hits and struck out four to hand Rantoul its first loss of the season.

MJ Crowley and Tyler Feece both doubled to knock in runs, while Jay Miller singled to drive in a run. Colin Krippinger (2 stolen bases), Steve Nelson, Austin Hagen and Jarrett Henson had a hit each.
