Vernon Hills advances to title game

Vernon Hills’ boys lacrosse team won two of its three matches Friday in the Hoffman Estates tournament to advance to the championship game.

The Cougars will play Lake Zurich at 1:30 p.m. today.

Vernon Hills defeated Mundelein 10-3 and Hoffman Estates 4-3 before suffering a 2-1 loss to Bartlett.

Against Mundelein, the Cougars received 2 goals apiece from Tyler Peterson, Grady Skeoch, Steve Didier and Wayne Didier. Zach Berman and Jeremy Levy also scored. Skeoch added 3 assists, while Peterson had a pair. Levy set up a goal, as well. Goalie Cody Christie made 5 saves.

Vernon Hills got single tallies from Peterson, Berman, Phillip Brown and Billy Hoffman against Hoffman Estates. Assists went to Daniel Schnar, Berman and Wayne Didier, while Christie was credited with 5 stops again.

Against Bartlett, Vernon Hills got its lone goal from Berman on an assist from Jason Jurardo. Christie made 6 saves.
