Fremd Graduate's Feature Film Premieres at Cutting Hall
On Saturday, April 21, CNGM Pictures (the Palatine-native award-winning film production company) will be presenting their latest feature film, "Two Days in February". The film is currently on the film festival circuit getting the attention of judging panels and industry professionals. "Two Days in February" tells the story of a young man who finds himself lost in the memories of his past relationships while struggling to decide whether or not his withering long-distance relationship is worth the fight.
Richard Propes of The Independent Critic says "['Two Days in February' is] a film that looks and feels and literally breathes life into every frame." Featuring local talent, the film stars Nick Cardiff (of Elgin), Courtney Rioux (of St. Charles) and Katherine Cunningham (of Elk Grove Village). The film was produced by Erica Lynn Schmeck (of Roselle) and written/directed by Fremd High School graduate and Palatine native, Michael P. Noens. "Two Days in February" is the fifth feature film Noens has directed in the greater Chicagoland area.
"Heartbreak is something we can all relate to," Noens says. "The hardest thing to understand when you're in the middle of it is that it may be for the best. When we're In the middle of it, we say and do things we don't mean because we think the person that hurt us is the 'bad guy', when in reality, no one is." The film explores this as Grant (Nick Cardiff) gets his heart broken over the phone and doesn't know how to deal with it. "We journey into the recesses of his mind, revisiting memories he has not touched upon in years. Memories of a first love." One of the exciting elements of "Two Days in February" that makes it so unique is that Grant begins to interact with his past in discussing his present situation. Noens says, "Ultimately, the film is a journey inward in search of self discovery."
"Two Days in February" will be screening at the Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center (150 East Wood Street) in Palatine on Saturday, April 21 at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $9 and available at the Cutting Hall Box Office. Call 847-202-5222 or visit CuttingHall.org.
