Barrington students can apply for Interlochen Scholarship
The Barrington High School Fine Arts Boosters is accepting applications for the Lageschulte Interlochen Scholarship. Award of the scholarship is dependent on the student confirming acceptance to Interlochen Arts Academy summer camp.
The Lageschulte Scholarship application for Interlochen is due May 4. The Interlochen Camp application due date for first priority review is traditionally February. Applicants will continue to be accepted based upon need in particular performance areas. Audition tapes are required for some applications.
The Lageschulte Interlochen Scholarship is awarded annually. It will pay a maximum of $1,000 toward tuition to Interlochen Arts Camp.
The recipient(s) of the Lageschulte Scholarship must be a student(s) of Community School District 220. Students applying may be incoming freshmen or returning high school students, who plan to attend Barrington High School for at least two more years.
Students applying may enroll in visual arts, dance, theater or music. Students interested in applying for the scholarship must obtain a recommendation from a Fine Arts Department faculty member. (See the application form for more details.)
Selection will be made by the scholarship committee based upon: potential for the greatest contribution to CUSD 220; talent, considering the age of the child; overall citizenship; and need (only considered if there are students who, in the opinion of the committee, appear equal in all other areas).
Located near Traverse City in northern Michigan, Interlochen Arts Camp attracts students from across the United States, as well as many countries around the world. The summer camp offers four- and eight-week sessions. A number of students from Barrington have attended the camp in recent years.
