Streamwood, D-C split: Andrea Barajas went 2-for-5 with 5 RBI and Brittany Delao was 4-for-5 with an RBI as Streamwood defeated Dundee-Crown 15-7 in Game 1 of a nonconference doubleheader. D-C came back to win the nightcap 3-2 behind Jessie Lewandowski’s game-winning hit in the seventh inning. In Game 1, the teams combined for 30 hits. Alexis Ciengi was 4-for-4 with 2 RBI for the Sabres while Melany Love went 4-for-4 with a triple, 2 doubles and 5 RBI for the Chargers. Lewandowski also homered for D-C and had 2 hits, and Lauren Mercado was 2-for-4. Kellee Conquest was Streamwood’s winning pitcher and Amanda Eissler suffered the loss for D-C. Love struck out 5 in 2 innings of relief. In Game 2, Mercado added 2 hits for D-C, while Delao was 2-for-4 with a homer and a double for the Sabres. Dani Fisher also had 2 hits with a double for Streamwood and Melissa Malcolm drove in a run. Eissler picked up the win in relief of Love and Katyln Hedger suffered the loss for Streamwood.

Elgin 6, Buffalo Grove 3: Hannah Perryman struck out 15 and overcame 7 walks as Elgin (3-1) won this nonconference game. Perryman allowed just 4 hits in moving to 3-0 for the spring. She also went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI at the plate. Caroline Sobeski hit her first varsity home run for the Maroons, a 3-run shot in the sixth inning, and Kelly Bremer added a double.

Larkin loses 2: Larkin managed only as single by Alex Buhrow off DeKalb’s Katie Kowalski in losing Game 1 at DeKalb 3-0, then suffered a tough 6-5 loss in the second game. Kiernan Schock allowed only 6 hits and had 6 strikeouts in losing Game 1, while Lexi Smithberg suffered the loss in Game 2. Bekah Harrington went 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI for the Royals (1-6), Kaitlyn Curley added 2 hits and an RBI and Beth Barry and Danielle Bauer also drove in runs. Larkin had 9 hits but committed 4 errors in Game 2.

South Elgin falls twice: South Elgin opened the season with losses of 7-1 and 4-1 at Sterling. The Storm managed just 2 hits in Game 1. Sam Bolin suffered the loss, allowing 9 hits with 8 strikeouts and 1 walk. In Game 2, Sam Helton had 2 hits with a double for the Storm and Brittany Koss drove in a run. Taylor Rees was the losing pitcher. Storm hitters struck out 10 times in the game.

Bartlett splits: Naperville North upended the Hawks 5-0 in Game 1 before Bartlett came back to win the second game 9-7. Tori Burke (5 hits, 6 Ks) suffered the loss in the opener with she and Alex Morales each getting 2 hits for Bartlett. In Game 2, Kayla Haberstich (3-for-4, 2B, 4 RBI), Burke (2B), Ashley Jacoby (2B), Sydney Johnson (2-for-2, 4 RS), Kaylyn Zierke (2-for-4, 2 RBI) and Holly Pagan (3-for-4) led the Bartlett offense. Amanda Montbriand overcame 8 walks and allowed just 5 hits in picking up the win for the Hawks (3-1.

Hampshire 17, Round Lake 1: Jen Hurst threw a 5-inning no-hitter with 7 strikeouts and no walks as Hampshire moved to 3-0 on the season. Hurst also went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and an RBI, while Jordan Hook (4-for-5, 3 RBI), Becca Hurst (2-for-4, 3 RBI), Tiffany Bentley (2-for-5, 2 RBI) and Haley Widmayer (2 hits) also contributed to the offense.
