Charges: Lisle man slashed girlfriend’s face

A Lisle man has been charged with knifing his girlfriend and a male family member — both in the face.

Michael J. Janczewski, 27, was arrested after the attack at 6:29 p.m. Tuesday at his apartment on the 2900 block of Wellington Avenue.

Prosecutors allege Janczewski put his 22-year-old girlfriend in a headlock and slashed her hand and face with a knife. He also is accused of knifing a 41-year-old male family member in the face and arm, according to DuPage County court records.

Janczewski faces charges of aggravated battery, domestic battery and resisting a peace officer. Bail was set Wednesday at $150,000.

Prosecutors said the resisting charge stemmed from Janczewski’s arrest. He is accused of stiffening his arms and twisting his body as Lisle police took him into custody.

Police didn’t immediately return a call Friday seeking additional details, such as how badly the victims were hurt or what might have sparked the altercation.

Court records show Janczewski is facing unrelated charges in the March 13 theft of a $40 pocket watch from the Kohl’s department store on Finley Road in Downers Grove. That case is pending.

In 2010, he was charged with child endangerment after he was accused of allowing a boy to climb behind the wheel of a vehicle and drive with Janczewski’s help while Janczewski was drunk, court records show. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI and was sentenced to conditional discharge.

Janczewski remained in the DuPage County jail Friday, pending an April 23 court date. To be released, he would have to post $15,000.
