Boys volleyball: Lake County roundup

Senior Henry Dominicis pounded 5 kills, and Anthony Rengers added four, as Carmel Catholic’s boys volleyball team outlasted Lakes 25-19, 25-23 Monday night.

Jon Wloch and Matt Campbell dished out 9 and 8 assists, respectively, for the Corsairs. Will Collazo contributed 3 blocks.

Lakes (0-1) spotted Carmel a 6-0 lead in the opening set but fought back to make a game of it. In the second set, the Eagles dug themselves an early hole again. Carmel led 11-6, but Lakes once again rallied, taking a 22-21 lead on a strong serving run from Mason Solbrig.

Chase Binkley led the Eagles with 7 kills. Richard Galant lofted 11 assists, while Solbrig and Binkley each had 3 blocks. Solbrig served 3 aces, as well.

Lake Zurich d. Northside Prep: Chris Carmody slammed 11 kills and served 9 of 10 with 5 aces, leading the Bears to a 25-13, 25-6 win.

Lake Zurich also got 3 kills from Brent Sweetwood, 4 blocks from Derrick Morgan, 2 aces on 13-of-13 serving from Matt Carmody and 14 setting assists from Jeremy Anderson.
