Non-establishment candidate is best

I see that the Democratic candidates running for the 29th Senate District are completely different. The “chosen” one was of course hand-picked by the retiring senator. She isn’t even sure if she is a Republican or a Democrat.

One thing is certain. She has the support of the political establishment. The same establishment that put the taxpayers of Illinois in the current precarious financial position. Should we trust someone who is a career politician who wants to continue to be a bureaucrat?

I find that pill more than a little hard to swallow. Milton Sumption is not liked by the establishment. Why? Because Sumption actually wants to fix the problems. And he actually has some original ideas to get the job done.

Many in the Democratic Party are more concerned about growing their pensions than addressing and fixing our state’s problems. There won’t be any midnight pay raises on his watch. He has a solid education and impressive finance experience, and that makes the political establishment nervous.

The state of Illinois needs a common-sense approach to fixing the financial mess we are in. Sumption will not take orders from the political establishment, but he will get results that matter to us. He’s an independent, reform-minded professional who wants to restore fiscal discipline in Illinois and get our state back on track. This is exactly why he should be elected.
