A candidate of impeccable character

Having known Dave Sabathne for 10 years, I have witnessed the many acts of character and compassion that he has displayed over the years. One happened in 2006. I was having some pretty severe health problems that winter and Dave was our angel. For every snowfall that winter, Dave would come in the middle of the night and plow out our driveway. He never wanted to get accolades for doing it, it was just the way Dave lives, with compassion, humility and character.

Dave has a stellar record as a policymaker and elected official. While serving 10 years as an alderman for the city of West Chicago, Dave helped to get the final agreement signed for the removal of thorium in West Chicago, and was the driving force behind getting the new water treatment system built, which is now one of the best in DuPage County.

As a DuPage Airport Authority member, Dave’s first accomplishment was to eliminate an unnecessary level of bureaucracy, saving the taxpayers over $500,000 annually. He seems to always have one thing in mind when making these difficult decisions, that he must do what is right for his constituents, even though decisions may not always be politically correct.

Dave is a founding member and officer of the new DuPage Veterans Foundation, where his first goal was to fund “Honor Flights” for World War II and Korean War veterans. As the CEO of the Western DuPage Chamber of Commerce, Dave has displayed his remarkable ability to bring people together and be a champion for businesses throughout DuPage County.

When voting for an elected official, my primary goals are to select a candidate that is honest, ethical, compassionate and possesses impeccable character Dave possesses all of those characteristics.
