Sheyman’s agenda too divisive

What a relief, one full day without any letters or articles telling the voters in the 10th Congressional District why we must vote for Ilya Sheyman. After reading the multitude of letters and articles, as well as visiting his website, let me tell you why the voters of the 10th should be running, not walking from this candidate.

I have lived in the 10th District most of my life. This district has historically elected moderate Republican Congressmen. The key word here is moderate. While Congressman/Sen. Kirk has at times voted for legislation that I did not agree with, I also felt that he was making an attempt to mollify multiple constituency groups and was working to find a middle ground.

This is a stark contrast to Mr. Sheyman’s ideology of “progressive” vision and excoriation of fellow candidates for having in the past supported both Republican and Democratic candidates for elected office. To me, his opponents’ behavior shows their ability to decide who is the best choice to govern no matter what a person’s affiliation is.

Mr. Sheyman is endorsed by multiple unions, and is receiving financing from the ultra left-wing MoveOn.Org. Additionally, Mr. Sheyman’s own web site refers to his only accomplishment as being a community organizer. While youth is fine, there really is no replaceent for knowledge and experience, neither of which he has.

The past two years have been marked with cries of partisanship and people not “reaching across the aisle”. From reading Mr. Sheyman’s website, he is certainly not going to change the partisanship currently causing gridlock, but add to it. We residents of the 10th need to make the right decision for all citizens who live in our district, and certainly, moderation - whether Republican or Democrat, should be the order of the day.
