Candidate experience proves his excellence
There are a number of candidates running for a seat in DuPage County Forest Preserve District 6. In my opinion there is only one who has already demonstrated a record of excellence as an elected official: Al Murphy.
Al is a leading member of the West Chicago City Council team, a team that has done an excellent job. It is always easy to say that one has done an excellent job but Al Murphy can back up this claim with facts and actual accomplishments.
West Chicago has had to deal with difficult economic conditions but unlike many others, the city has weathered this situation fairly well. West Chicago has lowered its budget five years in a row and has not only maintained all city services but has actually increased them in some circumstances.
At a time when some places have laid off police, West Chicago is hiring more. West Chicago paid off its water treatment plant 10 years early saving the tax payers $4 million. West Chicago is debt free. How many other communities can say that?
Most people would agree that public safety is the foundation for quality of life and with Al Murphy’s support, crime in West Chicago was down 27 percent. An inability to maintain infrastructure i.e. roads, sidewalks, water, sewer, etc., has been a constant theme in many places during the economic times but this is not the case in West Chicago. West Chicago has maintained its infrastructure in every way while at the same time enhancing the city’s appearance in many ways.
Al Murphy’s record of accomplishment, already in place, separates him from his opponents and makes him the best candidate for the forest preserve, district.
