Illinois Brass Band to play spring concert
Join music director Stephen Squires and The Illinois Brass Band as they fill Cutting Hall with their brilliant sounds during their spring concert, “An Afternoon with The Illinois Brass Band.” The event will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at Cutting Hall, 150 W. Wood St., Palatine.
Featured on the program will be Philip Wilby’s epic work “Paganini Variations,” a set of 16 variations based on Niccolò Paganini’s famous “Caprice No. 24” for violin and piano as arranged for brass instruments.
Tuba soloist Justin Boller will perform “Concertino for Tuba” by Philip Sparke.
Associate conductor and euphonium soloist Thomas Runty will perform “Believe Me, if All Those Enduring Young Charms,” a traditional Irish air arranged by Stanley H. Boddington.
The band will also perform other brass band and audience favorites to include “Fanfare and Flourishes,” “Lux Aurumque,” “Be Thou My Vision,” “The Florentine March” and “Disney Magic,” a medley of beloved tunes from the Disney catalog.
Tickets are available through the Cutting Hall box office in advance at (847) 202-5222 or on the day of the performance. Tickets for adults are $12, children 14 and under are $6.
