Share opinion on 911 dispatch merge

As stated by Lucy Michalec of the Senior Advisory Board to the Bloomingdale Police Department in the Feb. 28 Daily Herald, the 911 merger between Addison and Bloomingdale would definitely hurt Bloomingdale.

Just the loss of control is an important factor, but what about Addison not being familiar with the Bloomingdale area as well as the response time being seven miles away, lost jobs in this down economy, and finally would Addison be in favor of this merger if Bloomingdale housed the 911 call center with Addison? I think not because I see the same problems for Addison. Is saving $200,000 worth the cost of one life?

This should be a concern of every Bloomingdale resident and property owner. There will be an open meeting to discuss this important issue at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Bloomingdale Golf Club, 181 Glen Ellyn Road, Bloomingdale. Come voice your opinion either way!
