President keeps us stuck on foreign oil
We’ve heard that Americans must be weaned off foreign oil. It appears that Americans have listened to the message because we have definitely cut back on our use of home heating oil as a result of the mild winter. We have also cut down the oil used for gasoline. The law of supply and demand in the U.S. should force the prices down and create a rising inventory because we are using less.
That’s not happening because the oil refineries are selling our unused inventory overseas. Apparently saving energy has less to do with weaning off foreign oil or saving the planet but has more to do with lowering our standard of living compared to the rest of the world. Apparently the green agenda only affects the U.S.
Our politicians fail to understand that the increased price of gasoline consumes most of our disposable income and leaves little to spend on other items. That restricts the growth of the economy. The increase in oil prices directly impacts the price on all other basic, necessities such as food, clothing, etc. Our president promised Brazil $500 million for their deep-water drilling, which keeps us dependent on foreign oil. President Obama promised Brazil that we would be their best customer.
Why are the American taxpayers paying other countries to drill for oil knowing that we will be overcharged for the oil they sell us? Why aren’t the president and/or Congress formulating a comprehensive energy policy? When are they going to see it as a national security issue?
