Birth control is not a right

After listening to student Sandra Fluke from Georgetown University complaining that she couldn’t afford birth control, I’m convinced my dad is right: “This country is going nuts.” It’s so sad because these students are supposed to be intelligent and our future leaders but to listen to them they sound like total idiots. If this is their argument — that they cannot afford birth control while attending some of our most expensive schools — this is total lunacy.

I heard that Chicago high schools pass out free condoms; maybe colleges better catch up. I just paid my property taxes today, and now Ivy League students want me to pay not only their tuition but to subsidize their sex life and pay for their condoms, too!

Birth control was never a right in this country, but today our government has given out this idea that everyone has a right to this or that. In reality people have opportunities for a lot of things in this country, but too many people are gullible enough or have forgotten that we have the opportunity to pursue happiness — not the right to happiness.
