The Suburbs This Weekend: Soups, Simpsons' scribe, punk-pop and Fancy Nancy

Simpson's writer Mike Reiss, a local punk-pop band, Fancy Nancy and flights of (no, not fancy) soup, are among the weekend recommendations from Sean Stangland and Richard Battin.

Sean is touting Simpson's writer Mike Reiss, appearing at 8 p.m. Friday, March 9 at the Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg. (847) 895-3600.

He also would like to call our attention to the punk-pop band, Local H, consisting of Lake County natives Scott Lucas and Brian St. Clair. The group performs at 8 p.m. Friday, March 9 at the Montrose Room, 4300 N. River Road, Rosemont. (847) 544-5300.

If you haven't heard of Fancy Nancy, it's about time. Thearterworks USA performs “Fancy Nancy & Other Story Books” at the Hemmens Cultural Center in Elgin (847) 931-5900 on Friday and at Pfeiffer Hall at North Central College on Saturday. (630) 637-7469.
