Garry Meier to emcee Catholic Charities gala
Garry Meier, radio commentator for WGN-AM 720, will emcee Catholic Charities' Hearts for Homeless Families fundraiser being held 5 p.m. April 28, at the Sanfilippo Estate in Barrington Hills. Proceeds are earmarked to support Catholic Charities' New Hope Apartments, an innovative transitional housing program for the homeless.
“I am honored to participate in the Catholic Charities Hearts event once again. The work Catholic Charities does is truly inspiring and the amount of people they help to get back on their feet is incredible. For those of us attending the event we get to stand in awe of the collection of artifacts at the Sanfilippo Estate, a night you'll not forget while helping others,” Meier says.
The event theme is “The 8th Wonder of the World Tour,” and guests will marvel at the world famous collections of antique music, arcade and gambling machines, calliopes and Tiffany lamps. See an 8,000-pipe organ rise from the floor in a recreated opera house. Visit an old fashioned ice cream parlor, 200 music boxes, phonographs, and many other amazing antiques. Dinner will be served in the Carousel Building overlooking the beautifully restored 1890 European carousel complete with carved Hubner horses. The building also houses an 1881 Grant Locomotive.
Cost of a ticket, which includes tour, valet parking, hors d'oeuvres, open bar, elegant dinner, and an auction emceed by Meier, is $175 per person or $1,650 for a table of 10. Visit www.catholiccharities.net/hearts or call (847) 376-2118 to make reservations for this spectacular event.
