Barrington H.S. band concert on March 8

The Barrington High School bands will present their “Almost Spring” Concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8 in the Richard C. Johnson Auditorium at Barrington High School.

The concert will feature the Barrington High School Concert and Symphonic bands, under the direction of Randy Karon and Jonathan Tompary, and the Concert and Symphonic Band Percussion Ensembles under the direction of Christopher Avgerin.

There will be a large selection of standard concert band pieces based on original material, American popular and traditional melodies, and a number of pieces from other countries.

The BHS Concert Band will perform “For The New Day Arisen” by Steven Barton, “Sea Songs” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, “Clowns! Clowns! Clowns!” by American composer David Bobrowitz, “Ritual Dances” by Elliot Del Borgo, and “Yorkshire Ballad” by James Barnes.

The percussion ensembles will present “Mexican Mood” by Thomas Brown, and “Fool In The Rain” by Led Zeppelin.

The Barrington High School Symphonic Band will perform “Shenandoah” set by Frank Ticheli, “American Overture” by Joseph Willcox Jenkins, “Second Suite” in F by Gustav Holst, and “A Slavic Farewell” by Agapkin.
