911 merger would hurt Bloomingdale

As noted in the current Bloomingdale Almanac, our mayor and some of the board of trustees are considering merging Bloomingdale’s 911 call center with the Addison 911 center. Our dispatchers will loose their jobs, and the community would loose control of an extremely important part of our police department.

Calls would be taken in Addison where they are not familiar with our streets, residents and businesses. They say it’s a cost-saving measure. Many of us here in Bloomingdale think that this is not in the best interest of our community.

There is going to be a town-hall meeting within the next few weeks (date is unknown), as told to us by the mayor, to discuss this issue. I urge all interested residents to attend this meeting. Contact the village hall to find out the date.
