Lake County sheriff’s police searching for suspects in armed robbery of gas station near Grayslake
Lake County sheriff’s police are searching for three men who robbed a gas station near Grayslake at gunpoint.
Lt. Christopher Thompson said deputies were called to the Mobil Gas Station in the 33000 block of Route 45 at 9:15 p.m. Monday for the armed robbery.
When deputies arrived, Thompson said, they discovered three unknown, black males, approximately 20 to 25 years of age, had entered the station wearing ski masks. One offender brandished a black, semiautomatic handgun and demanded money from the cash register, Thompson said.
The offenders took approximately $500 and 10 cartons of Newport brand cigarettes, he said, then fled on foot eastbound through the parking lot.
A K-9 unit was called in and searched for the offenders, Thompson said, but could not track them.
He said no one was injured during the robbery.
“We are asking for assistance from the public on this case,” Sheriff Mark Curran said. “If any citizen saw anything or possess information regarding this robbery, I strongly encourage them to call our investigations division.”
Investigators will work with gas station managers to analyze security surveillance video, Thompson said.
Anyone with information regarding this robbery is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at (847) 377-4250.
