HNGR Symposium

The Seventh Annual Symposium in Human Needs and Global Resources titled, "When Did I See You Hungry?" will take place Friday and Saturday, February 24-25, 2012.

Symposium events will focus on what it means to be an advocate for hungry and poor people both in the United States and around the world. Panelists, lecturers, and guests will address this issue from a variety of disciplines, including theology, public health and nutrition, and agronomy.

This year's honored guest is Rev. David Beckmann, 2010 World Food Prize laureate. An ordained Lutheran minister and former World Bank economist, Beckmann is now President of Bread for the World, a collective Christian voice urging our nation's lawmakers to end hunger at home and abroad. Rev. David Beckmann will be giving the plenary address Friday evening at 7 p.m. in Coray Alumni Gymnasium, located at 421 North Chase Street in Wheaton.

All events are free and open to the public. For a complete schedule, visit www.wheaton.edu/academics/gel/hngr or call 630.752.5199.
