Birth control issue is about freedom
This letter is directed to Berns K. Gingras, who wrote in the Feb. 11 Fence Post. If birth control is a basic human right (which it isn’t) and is due the dignity of privacy, then perhaps you should be responsible for paying for what you do in private instead of expecting someone else to pay for it — especially, as you say, because it is such a “paltry sum.” There will never be any legitimate reasons to sanction abortion — why kill an innocent baby? How can that ever be justified?
I don’t believe the Catholic Church is trying to judge anyone by not wanting to be forced to give out birth control to its employees because it is against what the Church teaches. What will be the next freedom that the government tries to take away?
