‘Thunder Dog’ author here Saturday

Michael Hingson, best-selling author of “Thunder Dog: The True Story of a Blind Man, His Guide Dog & the Triumph of Trust at Ground Zero,” will appear noon-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 590 E. Golf Road, Schaumburg. The book details how the lives of Hingson and his award-winning guide dog, Roselle, are changed forever by two explosions and 1,463 stairs. “This is not the story of how I escaped from the World Trade Center,” says Hingson, “but rather it is the story of how I got there, and ... how I learned to cope with the attacks and move on.” Saturday’s event is free. Call (847) 310-0450. This is a free event open to the public.
