No candidate ever has helped the poor

That was no slip that Romney made giving short shrift to the plight of the poor. He was just being honest. Throughout our long and glorious history, no president or presidential hopeful has ever done anything of consequence for the poor in our society. If he or she had, we wouldn’t have any poor.
