Advocate Good Samaritan, Wellness House provide healthy living tips after cancer

Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital collaborates with Wellness House to offer free Wellness House programs for community residents who are currently undergoing cancer treatment or those in remission. Learn tips on how to live a healthy life and stay active throughout all stages of diagnosis.

"Active Coping with Cancer through Mindfulness" is a weekly series held Tuesdays from Feb. 14 to March 13 at the Cancer Care Center located on Good Samaritan Hospital's campus at 3815 Highland Ave., Downers Grove. This series teaches cancer survivors and their family members about mindfulness and how to practice it to achieve the full benefits. This class is appropriate for both those in treatment and out of treatment and their families.

“The series is informative and made me feel good after I left each session,” said Kim Delvaux, a Downers Grove resident. “I was able to talk to others in the same situation, share stories and enjoyed the camaraderie,” Delvaux said.

On the third Tuesday of every month a lunch and learn with informative and timely topics will take place in the Cancer Care Center lobby. Receive answers on insurance, employment and benefits during the ‘Financial Concerns' session hosted by the Cancer Legal Resource Center will take place at noon Tuesday, Feb. 21.
