Small fire in Wheaton chimney
No one was injured in a minor chimney fire in Wheaton early Monday, officials said.
Firefighters were called to the 100 block of Roosevelt Drive at about 7:30 a.m. Monday for the small blaze that started in the chimney, said Wheaton Fire Chief Bill Schultz.
He said there were no injuries or damages due to the blaze, and it was doused quickly by firefighters on the scene.
“This is the reason why people should have their chimneys checked and cleaned annually,” Schultz said. “Thankfully, this resulted in no damages.”
He said Roosevelt Road was shut down in the area for about 30 minutes while firefighters were on the scene.
