Fire damages three apartments in Woodridge

No injuries were reported in a Sunday morning fire that apparently began on a stove and left three units uninhabitable in a Woodridge apartment building, authorities said.

Firefighters from the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District were called at 6:31 a.m. to the building on the 6000 block of Double Eagle Drive. Crews found a water flow alarm had been activated and began searching the building to determine the cause.

Firefighters said they found water leaking into a garage area and traced it to another unit. They said a small kitchen fire had triggered the sprinkler system.

The two residents living in the unit where the fire started were taken to safety, authorities said, and the fire was quickly extinguished.
