Kasper steps down at Rosary
Rosary athletic director Mary Lou Kunold announced Monday that girls volleyball coach Lisa Kasper is stepping down to spend more time watching her children play sports.
“Lisa will be greatly missed by the Rosary volleyball families,” Kunold wrote in a statement.
Kasper likewise said she will miss coaching the Royals.
“This was a very tough decision for me,” Kasper said. “Next fall, I will have three kids in high school. My oldest son will be a senior and when I sat back and thought about it, I have never been around for the start of the school year for him since I have been coaching since he was a baby. My twins will be freshmen at Oswego and my daughter plays volleyball and travel soccer and her brother also plays soccer and as they get older it has become harder and harder for me to get to see them play in the fall.”
Kasper spent the last 18 years coaching Rosary including the past 13 with the varsity. Her teams went 312-159-6, won 10 straight regionals from 2001-2010 and won two SCC titles in 2004 and 2007.
“I had hoped to coach next season since we have a great returning junior class, but in the long run I realized it was more important to me to be there for my family and I wouldn’t be able to do justice or give my time as much as it is needed to coach at the varsity level,” Kasper said. “I am truly grateful to Mary Lou Kunold for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the Rosary family for so long. It has been an enjoyable 18 years at the school and I am truly blessed at being able to be a part of all the great player lives who have gone through the program.”
