Denying birth control coverage is wrong

Birth control is a basic human right. It is due the dignity of privacy as is any other health information. Catholic or any other hospitals do not have the right to deny their employees this insurance coverage.

There are many legitimate theological and historical reasons to sanction birth control, abortion when needed, women’s ordination and the inclusion of femaleness in our Godspeak and imagery.

Contrary to their claim that their religious freedom is being curtailed, it is the Catholic hierarchy and some followers who are tempting to strip others of their religious freedom of conscience and human rights. No one is asking or forcing them to practice birth control; if you are opposed to it, by all means, don’t use birth control. But stop trying to force your erroneous, archaic and patriarchal choices on anyone else.

Gov. Pat Quinn can be supported and lauded for being a servant to all the people. Somewhere years ago, I heard that serving all was something our shepherds were to be doing. Serving all — not playing a king, or judge, or pedophile protector.

They don’t want to pay the paltry sum for women’s right to use birth control but will spend millions covering up human crimes.
