Obama birthplace issue getting old

In a recent letter to the editor, the author was quite upset with your newspaper’s role to “engage the public in an ongoing debate over the way we all are governed.” One of the issues he mentioned was the eligibility of President Obama to be running for president.

The author mentions that President Obama’s natural father “was a British subject.” Our constitution only has requirements for the actual candidate himself, not his parents.

This issue of President Obama’s birth has been in the news so much over the years that, frankly, I would assume no one wants it rehashed. President Obama has proved that he was born in Hawaii. His birth certificate is on file there. What more proof need there be?

I am assuming the Daily Herald would rather spend its time on current issues not old ones. In my mind how could one newspaper ever possibly be able to even give brief mention to all the news, let alone try to solve the problems we face as a nation?

Maybe the author thinks your newspaper should be larger? As far as the author’s mention of the situation in Georgia, it sounds like racism is sadly still alive in the deep south.
