Komen right to cut off Planned Parenthood
Your Associated Press article implies the only reason the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation suspended funding to Planned Parenthood is because of a politically motivated probe by an conservative (gasp) Republican. There are two legitimate reasons to defund Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood currently receives more than $300 million in taxpayer money annually. Abortions account for 97 percent of their income, while less than 3 percent of is accounted for by non-abortion services (contraceptives). Currently, Planned Parenthood faces criminal charges across the country. In Kansas alone, there are 58 criminal charges being investigated related to illegal late-term abortions. Botched abortions are being documented at Planned Parenthood abortion clinics throughout the country which are landing women in the hospital. Some of the details are downright grisly.
With this kind of sordid practice going on, I think the least Congress can do is research the facts. As a taxpayer, I am glad someone is.
Secondly, new research studies are linking an increase in the number of breast cancer cases to the risk of using hormonal contraceptives, the “pill.” There is even a greater risk for breast cancer later in life when someone aborts a child before the age of 22. These facts are continually ignored. The pill and abortion are big business. I have boycotted Susan G. Komen for years because of their funding of Planned Parenthood. It seems hypocritical to donate money to a cancer prevention group that then gives money to a group that contributes to the risk of breast cancer.
I applaud Susan G. Komen for its decision and welcome a real expose of the truth. Wake up, women of America. Investigate the facts yourself. Contraceptives and abortions hurt women.
