Charges filed in Deer Park wallet thefts
Three people have been charged following thefts at the Deer Park Town Center mall, authorities said Thursday.
The suspects stole wallets out of patrons' purses at the Panera Bread and Noodles and Company restaurants on Jan. 15 and Jan. 19, Lake County sheriff's police said. They then used stolen credit cards to shop at a Target store in Palatine, police said.
Police used video to help identify the suspects, according to a news release. The suspects already were facing charges following similar thefts in the Riverwoods area, police said.
Charged Wednesday with felony unlawful use of a credit card were:
Michelle L. Johnson, 26, of the 6300 block of Maplewood, Chicago; Marva D. Karikari, 40, of the 8400 block of Captons Lane, Darien; and Rickey Anderson, 45, of the 9100 block of Blackstone, Chicago.
Anderson's bond was set at $50,000 during a hearing Thursday in Lake County court. Bond was set at $25,000 each for Johnson and Karikari.
Detectives are working with other Chicago-area police to see if the suspects are responsible for other crimes, police said. If you were a victim of such a crime, call detective David Tomasello at (847) 377-4250.
