Taylor paces Grayslake Central victory

Jordan Taylor poured in a career-high 31 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, leading Grayslake Central’s boys basketball team to an 82-46 win over host Woodstock on Wednesday night.

Casey Boyle added 15 for the first-place Rams, who improved to 17-5 and 9-0 in the Fox Valley Fox Division.

Grayslake Central has won nine straight.

Stevenson 56, Lake Zurich 48: The host Patriots bolted to a 20-5 lead after one quarter, led 26-16 at halftime and later saw Mike Fleming hit 3 straight 3-pointers to start the fourth quarter of the North Suburban Lake game.

Mike Travlos hit a 3 to cut Lake Zurich’s deficit to 6 with 1:07 left, but the Bears got no closer.

Fleming finished with 23 points, while Jalen Brunson (11) and Colby Cashaw (10) also scored in double figures for Stevenson (14-9, 5-5).

Mirko Grcic led Lake Zurich (14-12, 4-6) with 24 points. Brad Kruse, who played only the second half after Jeff O’Brien got injured, hit two 3s for 6 points.

“We just came out flat and that’s my fault,” Lake Zurich coach Billy Pitcher said. “I have to get us ready to play and we weren’t tonight. You can’t spot a team that good 15 points. We have been real balanced of late, but tonight we were real passive and kept looking at Mirko. We need to get other guys involved so teams can’t just key on him, and Stevenson did a great job of that tonight.”

Grayslake North 61, Johnsburg 58: AJ Fish scored 23 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, as the host Knights held on for the Fox Valley Fox win.

Grayslake North (14-7, 6-2) also received 14 points from Danny Mateling (two 3s) and 12 from Mark Hall.
