Dist. 15 to keep its elementary band and orchestra intact

Palatine Township Elementary District 15 officials said Monday that elementary band and orchestra programs won’t be reduced next year due to feedback received at various constituent group forums. The idea was part of a draft list of possible cost-cutting measures to address the district’s projected $9.6 million deficit in the 2012-13 school year. More than 1,500 people have signed an online petition opposing the cut. The administration will present its recommendation at the board meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Sundling Junior High, 1100 N. Smith St., Palatine.
