U-46 School News for Week of Feb. 6

On Monday, the Board of Education meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the ESC building in room 140, located at 355 E. Chicago St. in Elgin.

Larkin High School

On Tuesday, the Visual and Performing Arts Academy (VPAA) will present their Senior Recital at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium.

Streamwood High School

On Wednesday, a Blood Drive will be held at the school from 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Community members are welcome to donate. For more information, please contact Joan at 630-213-5500, ext. 4989.

Abbott and Kimball Middle Schools

On Monday, 5th and 6th grade orchestra students from the feeder schools (H. Gifford, Hillcrest, Lowrie, Otter Creek and Washington along with Century Oaks, Creekside, Highland, and Sheridan) will perform a concert at Larkin High School at 7 p.m.

Kimball Middle School

On Tuesday, the Beginning and Intermediate bands will present a Band Concert in the school gym at 7 p.m.

Larsen Middle School

On Thursday, the Winter Orchestra Festival will be presented in the school gym at 7 p.m. Admission is $2 per adult, $1 per student, or $6 per family.

Tefft Middle School

On Friday, a dance will be held for 7th and 8th grade students from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The dance is sponsored by the 8th grade advisory group which helps with fundraisers for the 8th grade end of the year cruise on May 30. Admission is $4.

Clinton Elementary

On Tuesday, a Pro Kids Family Show will be held at the school at 6:00 p.m. and again at 7:45 p.m. The Pro Kids Show is a daytime assembly & Family Night Show with a unique blend of comedy, music, magic & involvement. Students & families experience messages about RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, & MORE! The 40 minute student assembly will take place during the school day. The one hour Family Night show is completely different from the assembly, yet it has all the same high class production values.

Fox Meadow Elementary

On Monday, students in grades 4-6 will perform at South Elgin High School in “Broadway Beat” from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the auditorium.

Hawk Hollow Elementary

On Friday, a Family Literacy Night will be held at the school from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Many fun literacy games for all grade levels will be provided so that the whole family can come and enjoy. Each family will have the opportunity to participate in three different activities. The activities focus on the following: phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency.

Laurel Hill Elementary

On Wednesday from 2-6 p.m., Hanover Township will hold an open gym to provide supervised activities for students. This event is held weekly through the school year.

On Thursday, the Hanover Township ELL Parenting class will be held at the school from 10-11 a.m. The group meets weekly.

Also on Thursday, a Dual Language informational meeting will be held from 6-7 p.m. in the school gym. The meeting is for parents of incoming kindergarten and current kindergarten students.

On Friday, the “Moms & Tots” play group meets from 8:00-9:30 a.m. in the school gym. Parents and pre-school age children are invited to come and play games and have some fun. The group meets weekly.

Lincoln Elementary

On Friday, a Father/Daughter dance will be held from 6-8 p.m. in the gym. There will also be snacks and games.

Willard Elementary

On Tuesday, students in grades 1-6 will perform at South Elgin High School in “Broadway Beat” from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the auditorium.
