Relay for Life Kicks Off Feb. 14 – Get Your Team Ready!

The Mt. Prospect/Prospect Heights Relay for Life of will celebrate the kickoff of the 2012 relay from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14 in the community rooms at Prospect High School, 801 W. Kensington Road, Mt. Prospect.

Whether you're a returning walker or new to Relay for Life, the kickoff is a great chance to:

• Register a team to walk in the relay, and help us fight back against cancer.

• Register as a cancer survivor, and you'll help us kick off the relay during our Survivors Lap.

• Learn more about the relay and ways to get involved – as a participant or helping to plan the many activities throughout the night.

• Dedicate luminaria bags/candles for the Luminaria Ceremony, to remember those touched by cancer and loved ones lost.

• Make a difference by becoming an event sponsor or donating to the raffle.

Everyone has been touched by cancer in some way, either through a personal battle or supporting loved ones and friends in their fight. Relay for Life is the signature fundraiser of the American Cancer Society.

This year's event will take place overnight Friday and Saturday, May 18 and 19, in the Prospect High School stadium. From 6 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Saturday, each team will have individuals walking laps around the Prospect track in celebration of those who have survived cancer and in memory of those who have lost their battle. Throughout the night, there will be entertainment, concessions, a raffle, and several moving ceremonies.
