Thanks for Wheaton luminaria effort

The Wheaton Chapter of the Infant Welfare Society wishes to thank all who supported its 42nd annual luminaria fundraiser in December. The Infant Welfare Society provides health care to women and children in need and celebrated its 100th year in 2011.

The Wheaton chapter sells brown bags and candles (luminaria) that are lit on Christmas Eve in almost every neighborhood throughout Wheaton and the surrounding communities. The spirit of the holiday was reflected by businesses, neighborhoods and individuals. They include:

Kyle Buikema and family for allowing us to sell our gift and luminaria sets at their Buikema’s Ace Hardware stores; Tom Saylor of Winfield Fuel & Material for sand donation and delivery; Garrett Plepel and Collaborative Marketing Group for graphic design work; Greg and Connie Weimer at Minuteman Press for printing; Kohl’s Department Stores for their help with inventory preparation and their generous donations; Dan and Jackie Moe and their neighbors for hosting the Arrowhead sale again (for the last 20-plus years); the Virgilio family for lighting up the steps of Wheaton City Hall on Christmas Eve.

A huge thank you to the hundreds of donors, neighborhood coordinators and homeowners for their generous support. We received generous donations from many who underwrote some of our supplies — Toms-Price Furniture, Phillips Martin Real Estate, Luse Holdings and the many private donors who selflessly gave to help our cause.
