CASA volunteers complete training

Nineteen adults who completed 40 hours of training by CASA Lake County were sworn in as officers of the Lake County Juvenile Court.

The volunteers became advocates for abused and neglected children and fact finders for the judges in their efforts to find a safe and suitable home for these young people who, through no fault of their own, appeared in juvenile court.

Bonnie Wolinski, director of development for CASA, said the advocates will make a big difference in the lives of the abused children assigned to them.

The CASA University graduates find many ways to address the needs of these people. This includes making sure their health, education, clothing and relationship needs are being met.

The swearing-in ceremonies took place in the Juvenile Court located at the Juvenile Probation and Detention Center in Vernon Hills. Adults interested in learning how they can help abused children should contact CASA at (847) 383-6260.
