Debunking coyote myths meeting

The Chicago area is home to a burgeoning coyote population. But where did they come from? How many are there? Are they a danger to humans? On Thursday, Feb. 2, Friends of Ryerson Woods will explore the mysterious world of the urban coyote with Stan Gehrt, Ph.D., assistant professor at Ohio State University. Gehrt has been conducting research on urban coyotes in the Chicago area since 2000 in the largest study of its kind. Research results along with myths and truths will be discussed. The program is 7 to 9 p.m. at the Welcome Center at Ryerson Woods, on Riverwoods Road between Route 22 and Deerfield Road. Cost is $15 ($10 Friends of Ryerson Woods members), $5 for children under 12. To register, call (847) 968-3321 or visit www.ryersonwoods.org.
