1,500 Schaumburg residents lose power

About 1,500 Schaumburg residents lost power Sunday morning, but most had their electrify restored by noon, a ComEd spokeswoman said today.

Arlana Johnson said the customers lost electricity at 10:42 a.m., and all but 280 had power back on by 11:49 a.m.

The area affected is surrounded by Schaumburg Road to the north, Desmond Drive to the south, Sienna Drive to the east and Salem Drive to the west.

The cause of the outage remains under investigation, but initial indications are that there was some water seepage into switching equipment.

“Apparently there was some equipment that got damaged. We’re working on replacing that equipment to get the remaining customers back up,” Johnson said.
