Mother Earth needs our care

Recently reported in the news, the Doomsday Clock has been moved up to five minutes to midnight due to a growing rise in nuclear threats and an inability to deal with climate change on a global level. Let’s just deal with climate change. We know the climate is changing, but why aren’t we as a major industrialized nation addressing this issue head on? Is it because we are becoming ever so distant from our source of being, Mother Earth?

Every day I work outside in a natural setting and see endless piles of plastic debris whose derivative originates mostly from our ever addictive resource: oil. Are we as Americans so delusionary that we don’t see where we are going as a nation and as a part of the greater community with Mother Earth? Are we just creatures of money, wasteful consumption and market-determined progress, or can we get away from this mythical self-destructive disconnect by living in balance with our nature shrinking planet.

In short, can we begin to become pro-lifers for Mother Earth and not abort her?
