Good Guys Wear Red?

The White Sox will be wearing their 1972 uniforms during all Sunday home games this season, paying tribute to a popular team that featured late manager Chuck Tanner, Dick Allen, Bill Melton, Goose Gossage and Wilbur Wood.

The uniforms will feature the red pinstriped jersey and Sox script across the chest, red numbers on the front and back of the uniform top and red caps.

On June 24, the first 10,000 kids 13 and under will receive a 1972 replica jersey when the White Sox play the Milwaukee Brewers at U.S. Cellular Field.

“Being a part of those early 1970s White Sox teams, with a leader like Chuck Tanner and exciting players such as Dick Allen, Wilbur Wood and a young Goose Gossage, remains one of the fondest times in my career,” Melton said. “The red pinstripes and red baseball cap will bring back a lot of great memories for Sox fans from that generation.”
