Suburbia's Got Talent: Hawthorn Dist. 73's Eagle Chorus

The Eagle Chorus made up of 48 Hawthorn Elementary District 73 students in Vernon Hills is flying high these days.

The fifth-graders from Townline Elementary and the Hawthorn School of Dual Language in Vernon Hills took a global approach to music last month when they performed their "December Round the World."

Shows featured dialogue, costumes, props and songs of various winter holidays, including the Chinese New Year celebrated in January, as well as Christmas, Hannukah, and Las Posadas.

They entertained the staff at the District 73 office on Dec. 15 and had a big show on Dec. 13 for parents and family members at Townline school.

The school's music teacher, Alice Grubb, directs the program. The students, who come in before school several days a week to practice, will stage a similar spring production.
