Former Bears QB coach hired by UConn
STORRS, Conn — The University of Connecticut has hired former Chicago Bears assistant coach Shane Day to coach the Huskies’ quarterbacks.
Day spent the past two seasons as the Bear’s quarterback coach, before the team cut ties with him and offensive coordinator Mike Martz earlier this month.
Day also has spent time with the San Francisco 49ers and the University of Michigan during an 11-year coaching career.
He takes over from Joe Moorhead, who left in December to become head coach at Fordham.
Day will inherit a stable of five quarterbacks who are expected to compete for playing time, including returning starter Johnny McEntee, sophomores Scott McCummings and Michael Nebrich and highly-touted newcomers Casey Cochran and Chandler Whitmer.
