This plan requires no sacrifice

I do not want to broadly paint my conservative/Tea Party friends as being unwilling to sacrifice to “save the Republic.” Most I know are sincere and concerned about the future of our land.

However, the conservative wing of the GOP is presenting a plan that requires no sacrifice by its supporters. Those in the top 10 percent of income earners will receive tax cuts. Corporations and investors will receive tax cuts. Those over 50 or 55 years old will have no changes to social security or Medicare.

The great presidential contender Ross Perot saw the need for drastic debt reduction, but felt every group should bear the expense. The ones called upon to sacrifice will be the poor, middle income and young, traditional Democratic bases.

It appears that the Tea Party is following General Patton’s advice, “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other guy die for his.”
