Obama runs over Constitution

Last week, President Obama again evidenced his apparent belief that the Constitution no longer matters; or is it that he is somehow above it? It would seem he believes it should be disregarded in favor of authoritarian rule.

His unconstitutional appointment of Richard Cordray to lead the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was only the tip of the iceberg. Do Americans even know that this isn’t the only one; he also appointed three people, unconstitutionally, to the National Labor Relations Board. Amazingly, two of these newly appointed members never even filed the proper background paperwork and, in fact, were only nominated in December. It was an egregious misuse of power.

He has let Congress know that he will circumvent the Constitution to get what he wants. He has also indicated he would like to see government control of the media. What about freedom of speech and freedom of the press? He has also instructed his attorney general not to defend laws of the land that he opposes. He has ordered agents in Arizona under the direction of the sheriff there to stop enforcing federal immigration laws. He has ordered Holder not to defend the Defense of Marriage Act.

Whose country is it anyway? Why do things like this not make front page news? Does he already have the press in his back pocket? What will happen to our country, the country President Reagan called the last great hope on earth, if we say nothing about President Obama’s continuing to ignore the Constitution just to score political points with his base. Is it that or does he just want to be king? The principles upon which our nation was founded cannot be ignored, and the president needs to remember that.
