Teens from Hinsdale and Carrollton will be among 104 students participating in March in the U.S. Senate Youth Program in Washington, D.C.

Robert Chun of Hinsdale Central High School and Patrick McGlasson of Carrollton High School were chosen for the 50th annual program which aims to increase knowledge of the American political process and spur interest in public service.

The U.S. Senate sponsors the program, which is funded by The Hearst Foundations. Each student receives a $5,000 undergraduate scholarship.

The program features meetings and briefings with senators and congressional staff, the president, a Supreme Court justice, cabinet secretaries, an ambassador to the U.S. and members of the national media.

Emily Andre of Antioch Community High School and Tyler Hixson of Monticello High School are alternates.
