Des Plaines man suspected of stealing $13,000 in tools in Glendale Hts. school

A Des Plaines man is accused of trying to steal about $13,000 worth of tools from a technical school in Glendale Heights.

Richard Distasio, 22, of the 1100 block of Wolf Road, faces charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools and criminal trespass.

Police said a burglary alarm went off just after 5 a.m. Monday at Universal Technical Institute, 601 Regency Drive in Glendale Heights. When officers arrived to investigate, reports said, they found Distasio leaving with about $13,000 worth of tools that were missing from the school.

He remained in DuPage County jail late Tuesday on $10,000 bond, reports said. He will have to post $1,000 to be released, but will then face a warrant in Kane County and a $500 bond, according to records on the DuPage County sheriff’s website.
